Rise
(Shifting Paradigm Records 2022)
This is music for long, peaceful evenings when you want to forget about what's around you and immerse yourself soothing sounds. Intimate, melodic, calmly wandering guitar playing that gives respite from stressful everyday life. „Rise” is the debut album recorded by George Grydkovets, Ukrainian guitarist currently living in New York where he studies at the New School's School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. He is accompanied by three leading Ukrainian jazz musicians: Dennis Adu on trumpet (in three pieces), Valentin Korniyenko on bass and Pavel Galitsky on drums. The album consists of 12 original compositions and the leader presents a wide range of stylistic range and music influences just like in the pieces "The Land of Green Verticals" or "Transcendental". In general „Rise” features melodic mainstream jazz guitar with well accompaniment bass and drums and beautiful tone of Adu's trumpet. Great writing and playing from everybody. You will feel better after listening this album.
