Davide Incorvaia / Dima Bondarev
Berliner Suite
(Self released, 2023)

'Berliner Suite' was recorded by two musicians living in Berlin: the Italian-born pianist Davide Incorvaia and the trumpeter Dima Bondareava from Donetsk, Ukraine. The minialbum is half of a project of duo recordings made by the Italian pianist.

The five-movement suite was inspired by the city in which both artists live. The composer - Davide Incorvaia - has set to music his impressions attributed to specific locations in the metropolis. The five pieces last just under half an hour. In this time, the musicians offer the listener an unhurried stroll along Unter der Linden avenue, a dreamy trip through the Westend district, a slightly creepy impression of the Teufelberg or bluesy memories of Hermannplatz.

The variety of moods and the interestingly arranged interplay of instruments make these recordings attractive. Both musicians present themselves well in the solo parts (although it is the trumpet that has slightly more opportunity for this). An interesting album and well worth your attention.
